ESPECIAL VMA 1990: A noite das mulheres - Janet Jackson, Madonna e Sidned O'Connor

Mesmo com mais de 30 anos de tradição, dá pra contar nos dedos quantas edições do VMA se tornaram marcantes, a edição de 1990, por exemplo, é uma delas. Apresentado pela terceira fez consecutiva por Arseno Hall, teve como local novamente o Anfiteato Universal, em Los Angeles, o VMA entrou na década de noventa reconhecendo o talento das artistas femininas.

Janet Jackson, que na época provocava a nação com álbum "Rhythm Nation", abriu a cerimônia com uma performance polêmica de seu hit "Black Cat". Durante o show, Janet abriu a blusa que estava usando e deixou à mostra o sexy sutiã preto que usava. Na mesma noite, a irmã de Michael Jackson ainda foi homenageada no VMA com o Vídeo Vanguard Award por sua importância e influência cultural. 

Além de Janet, outras mulheres também roubaram os holofotes naquela noite. Sinead O'Connor e Madonna foram as mais premiadas, levando três prêmios cada uma. Sinead se deu melhor vencendo o "Vídeo do Ano" por "Nothing Compares To You". Outros grandes ganhadores foram Aerosmith, Don Henley, The B-52s,Tears for Fears, e MC Hammer, que levaram casa dois troféus cada um.

Mas quem mesmo entrou na história no primeiro VMA da década de noventa foi Madonna. Acompanhada dos dançarinos da Blond Ambition, a rainha do pop encerrou o VMA de 1990 com uma performance épica de "Vogue". Vestida de Maria Antonieta, Madonna reinterpretou o século XVIII no palco com direito a clássica coreografia da canção. A performance foi aclamada pela crítica e até os dias de hoje é listada como uma das melhores da premiação. Mais uma vez, Madonna salvava o Vídeo Music Awards.
